Engineered a dual-antenna GNSS navigation system using u-blox ZED-F9P development boards (C099-F9P) in a rover + base RTK setup to achieve centimeter-level accuracy for marine navigation.Configured UART/USB serial communication between base and rover modules to transmit RTCM correction data and stream raw NMEA sentences (GGA, RMC, GSV, VTG, etc.).Developed a Node.js + Electron desktop application to:Parse and validate NMEA messages with the gps.js library.Compute distances and bearings using the Haversine formula.Monitor satellite visibility, SNR values, and RTK fix status for reliability.Integrated Mapbox GL JS for real-time visualization of the boat’s path, heading direction, and baseline between antennas on an interactive map interface.Implemented a modular logging and diagnostics system with electron-log to trace GNSS drift, satellite signal fluctuations, and baseline stability during field tests.Validated the accuracy and repeatability of position fixes under controlled test conditions, accounting for multipath errors when modules were placed indoors.Designed system extensibility for future sensor fusion (IMU/gyro + GNSS) to improve navigation stability in low-signal conditions and support use cases like docking assistance, autonomous navigation, and path replay.
