ABOUT SISHIR GAUTAM

I have a good knowledge and experience in forest inventory, forest management, ecosystem modelling, forest carbon offsetting, GIS, database design and web GIS, cartography, remote sensing, computer programming, project development and project management. My professional expertise is built on a strong foundation of academic degrees in forestry from Bachelors up to Doctorate level and relevant work experience in Nepal, Finland, Austria, Gabon and Canada. Also, I have developed GIS, remote sensing and computer programming skills through GIS Graduate Certificate at Algonquin College, Ottawa. Recently, I developed a tool to automate wetlands mapping process using GIS and remote sensing database. Earlier, I successfully designed and executed forestry researches, critically analyzed the implication issues of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD) in Gabon. I developed a tool to quantify carbon balance in forests and assisted in optimizing forest benefits to the region under REDD. Besides, I studied the impacts of forest managements on forest growth and climate change. I prepared project design document of potential carbon projects, updated donors and sponsor database using a development software, trained an administrative assistant in handling fundraising software at Tree Canada, Ottawa, Canada.
