I received this competitive fellowship and for my project What We Can Learn From Australia: How Different Countries Handle Wildfire Mitigation and Prevention, and was able to spend over three weeks in Australia, researching their approach to wildfires. I visited field sites, talked to experts in a vast range of fields to draw connections between their work and compile a comprehensive understanding of wildfire mitigation in Australia, and saw places that had been impacted by wildfires. I was able to focus on several different things that interest me particularly, including 3D modeling, RAMAN spectroscopy, and prescribed burning, as well as the intersection between the two. The experience was extremely enriching and educational and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity.
