I worked intensively with a a co-hort of Special Education High School Students in a Social Studies classroom where we worked specifically on reading comprehension regarding historical documents. When students were not working on social studies, I would be working one-on-one wit students to work on math as well as ELA. If there was down time in the classroom, I would offer an optional opportunity for students to learn about black history, outside of the context of slavery as this was something that was not included in their curriculum.
