ABOUT SINÉAD DEIGNAN

Passionate about people, history, heritage language and storytelling, Sinéad’s professional experience has oscillated between Ireland and France, since she worked in Hennessy, Cognac in 1998 whilst completing her undergraduate studies in University College Dublin in languages and classics, and subsequently a Masters in medieval French. Sinéad worked with the Independent News & Media Group as PA to the Editor Mr Aengus Fanning for five years and was weekly columnist to the Property Section. She returned to her studies in University College Cork in 2005 where she graduated with a Higher Diploma in Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning whilst working in the School of History, where she found and managed the Arch Research Project to repatriate in facsimile form Ireland\'s medieval manuscripts on the continent. This project was brought to fruition through multiple partnerships with national government agencies, international repositories and libraries and a great deal of support from a dynamic international philanthropic network. On completion of the ArCH project Sinéad led a government funded initiative to develop multi-media technologies to showcase Ireland\'s cultural heritage. To complement her skills she undertook a MA in Screenwriting for Film with the Irish Film School turning academic research into screenplay. Her love of learning and teaching brought her to France in 2017 where she undertook her third Masters to join the teaching staff of l’Education Nationale. Laureate of the French National Concours for Teachers in 2018 she was awarded a Masters in Education in 2019 from the École Supérieur d’Enseignement et du Professorat, University of Clermont Ferrand, France in 2018. She is a graduate of the Law Society of Ireland and the Chamber of Commerce in Paris and holds a Diploma in Legal French. Her academic interests relate to Medieval History, in particular the Anglo-Norman period (Medieval French), its influence on Early Irish Medieval culture and subsequent Franco-Ireland relations. She is a Francophile, a lover of languages, good food, art, architecture, design, crazy about home renovations and in between likes to get lost in long distance swims. As a former journalist she loves writing and is currently engaged in the writing of children’s books with a fantastic co-author, her daughter.
