ABOUT SINA GHOLAMIAN
I am currently a Manager & Tech Lead, Applied Research in Deep Learning and NLP at Thomson Reuters (TR) AI Labs, with a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo. In my role, I undertake research, design, and development for proof-of-concept (PoC) projects and deploy SOTA NLP-based models in TR products to address large-scale legal and business challenges, such as document analysis and product classification. I lead a team of researchers and engineers, guiding the development and integration of ML-based features into TR products. So far, my work at TR has led to two publications and two patents. Additionally, I have established myself as a thought leader both within the company and externally on Generative AI for product classification.I am known for collaborating very effectively within a multi-site team, managing multiple projects, adapting easily to changes and priorities, a quick learner, and a forward-thinking leader. I am very interested in joining teams where I can contribute the most value, particularly research and leadership positions emphasizing the application of machine learning and NLP techniques. Before my tenure at Thomson Reuters, I earned my Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the University of Waterloo in December 2021, where I leveraged machine learning to automate software processes. My research has contributed to several publications focused on \"Software automation in distributed systems with machine learning and data mining techniques\". Prior to earning my Ph.D. at UWaterloo, I:* Implemented architectural, performance, and power optimization techniques for state-of-the-art ASIC system-on-chips (SoCs) at Qualcomm and for programmable chipset designs at Intel, and,* Designed and implemented embedded software for an AR device at North Inc.(a startup acquired by Google).
