ABOUT SIMTEN CEKICER

I am participating in Financial Aid Workshops helping students and parents regarding FAFSA, DreamAct and other financial aid applications and procedures. Advising students regarding admissions, matriculation, student supportive programs and resources. Analyzing problems with the use of patience, courtesy and sound judgment to identify solutions. Providing excellent customer service to a diverse population of community college students. I also have experience in the garment industry working with clients such as Gap, Benetton, Diadora, Ermenegildo Zegna and Fila Sports creating garments from initial concept to delivery of final products. I have worked with both in-house and outside mills and vendors to develop materials from yarn level to product completion including material ideation, material development, prototype creation, budgeting, quality testing and wear testing of materials, costing, sample production, delivery of garment samples and final product shipment. I have extensive management experience in the garment industry working with people at all levels, from production line to top management. In my work for Gunes Giyim, I managed supervisors in numerous different departments (manufacturing, sampling, quality control, packaging, export) overseeing their work until delivery of final garments to retail clients. I also oversaw production of a factory in which 400 employees sewed garments. In addition to my garment industry experience, I also have extensive management and operations experience in the hospitality industry. For 4 years I worked for a family owned hotel business, Gunes Hotel. During this period I oversaw renovation of a 140 room hotel (including 2 dining facilities), created content for the website to rebrand the hotel and hired and trained staff, played a key role in company reorganization, ensured a team atmosphere and positive employee relations as the Human Resource Manager.
