About Simran Thakkar
Post entering the corporate world, getting an opportunity to reflect upon how well leveraging my skills of problem-solving, inquisitiveness, taking up challenges, and deep-dive research mindset inhibited a passion in me to gain deeper insights on the complexities of the financial markets, and its products. This has enabled me to spearhead my career in the world of finance and to keep on striving for higher levels of knowledge and understanding. My previous stint was as an Articled Assistant in the Risk Advisory vertical at ValueonShore Advisors. During my period of work here, I think I can genericize some learnings by way of the following points- Good research is the backbone of every opinion- Learning is not a finite end, it has infinite realms of possibilities- Leadership and management is not one-way role, it encapsulates everyone in your team- Finding out innovative solutions is a step towards caressing pain points at work.Also, keeping myself involved in an extracurricular activity like Karate enhanced my team working skills, proactive thinking, and challenging attitude. Having played in National level championships with overall 10 gold, 13 silver, and 7 bronze medals helps boost overall confidence.Academically, I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Bcom grad. While I was studying for Chartered Accountancy, my interest in knowing the deep annals of financial analysis and other ancillary concepts, introduced me to FMVA, CBCA, and CMSA which I engaged in to hone my learning and get deeper insights in this regard. The academic veracity that these certifications had, showed me that the arena of finance is still developing with newer insights coming up on a frequent basis.I have always been a firm believer in humility and hard work - it\'s an adept combination of these that has helped me navigate through the best and the worst of all scenarios that life threw at me - both personally and professionally.Outside work, I will always be found deep diving into active discussions about finance, the economy, etc. Also being a nature enthusiast who is akin to actively observing and appreciating the natural world.
