Building Up is a non-profit social enterprise that operates as a pre-apprenticeship training and employment program in the trades for people with barriers to employment. In addition to participating in a comprehensive in-class training curriculum, program participants work under the supervision of journeymen tradespeople to complete projects that benefit the community. Our focus to date has been on the completion of water efficient retrofits, which generate significant utility savings for low-income housing providers.Building Up has been recognized internationally for its impact on our community, our environment and our housing sector by Michael Bloomberg and the Genesis Foundation, the Centre for Social Innovation and Ashoka Canada.
