About Simon Kleinbart
I thrive on unsolved problems, especially those related to fluid flow. With a recent PhD in chemical engineering and experience in the nuclear, renewable energy, and biotech sectors, I’ve grown adept at leveraging all available resources to investigate and solve these problems. My nuclear experience includes 5 years spent building a two-phase thermal hydraulics test rig from the ground up-design, budgeting, selection of raw materials and components, fabrication, and construction, with the help of a team under my supervision. Once the system was running, I did the simulation, experimental design and operation, and data analysis as well. This resulted in filling a noted gap in the thermal hydraulics literature: two-phase dispersion coefficient data.Because I believe that engineering means taking responsibility for the entire problem, rather than one specialized aspect, I take great interest in the regulatory side of the nuclear endeavor. I have traveled to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to attend public meetings, participated remotely in other NRC meetings, and learned about the process from stakeholders including the NRC, utilities, elected officials, and the consulting groups that do many of the thousands of hours of analysis that go into the licensing process.Outside the nuclear realm, I have also led investigations into the fluid flow aspects of heart disease and the two-phase hydrodynamics of a promising gas-to-oil conversion process. The exciting results have been presented at international conferences and communicated in peer-reviewed journals.Expertise: nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, research, project management, multi-phase flow, electronic sensor development, Matlab, Aspen, ImageJ.I’m always looking for a new problem to solve; if you’ve got a tough one you need help with, drop me a line at s••••••••@gmail.com.
