About Simon Johnston
Having started my career in physical retail writing device drivers for Point of Sale terminals, I seem to have come full circle and joined Walmart Global Tech. 16 years at Amazon working on large scale systems and complex business problems was fun, all of those exist at Walmart but the size of the company itself and the size of its physical business adds a whole new set of challenges and opportunities.Joining the ranks of the Walmart Fellow Program alongside some great engineers I’ve worked with in the past, and many I am excited to work with now, we are shaping the future of the engineering culture and organizations world-wide. I’ve been impressed already with the Walmart values, particularly respect for the individual and act with integrity which really made a huge difference in the hiring and onboarding processes. Looking forward to making a difference with my team, the fellow program, and the technical culture.
