ABOUT SIMONE SURIANO

Simone graduated in Business Administration at Bocconi University in Milan and during his university study he spent some time abroad, for instance at VSE University of Economics in Prague (CZR) and at NYU Stern in New York City (USA). After his first professional experiences at H3G in Milan and at SANPAOLO IMI in New York, in 2008 he joined the Noverca startup (Intesa Sanpaolo MVNO) with particular focus on m-banking and m-payments services. Among his most important achievements are the first credit card Mastercard tokenized on a mobile phone (Superflash Mobile) and the first Intesa Sanpaolo mobile banking platform (at first SIM/SMS-based and then App-based, thanks to the capabilities of the always-on smartphone). In 2014 he moved to Banca Popolare di Bari managing the bank’s digital transformation. Thanks to his projects the Bank became one of the first on the market offering its own products (onboarding current accounts) and third-party products (insurances, cards and loans) digitally and with a fully paperless process. This allowed the Bank to achieve very challenging KPIs in terms of cross-selling and up-selling on direct channels and important synergies with branches nationwide. In July 2016 Simone joined E*Finance Consulting Reply. As Senior Manager he is in charge of projects with major Italian customers like Banca Mediolanum, Intesa Sanpaolo ISBD, Nexi, Banca Fideuram, etc. He works on strategic and innovative topics in the banking industry such as marketing automation, analytical CRM, behaviour-based customers segmentation and rethinking of digital processes. He also served as Reply’s global leader of Data Driven Customer Engagement Community of Practice with focus on advanced analytics, big data and conversational interfaces. In March 2018 he was nominated Reply Partner and CEO of E*Finance Consulting Reply and he leads challenging digital transformation programs and coordinates advisory activities for huge financial institutions, for instance UniCredit and Unipol. Beside them he helps with the development of “niche banks” like Banca Etica, SisalPay, FCA Bank and Fineco. Working within the latest regulations (e.g, PSD2) his team developed an integrated approach to the Open Finance introducing the best practices pioneered by the FinTech world into the banking market. Last but not least, he’s working on the Digital Euro and CBDC, promoted by the European Central Bank, that is going to have a massive impact on technology, strategy and business in the near future. From March 2023 Simone is Digital Payments, Sales Director at Thales Group.
