ABOUT SIMONE RAMELLO

I once wanted to be a mathematician, exploring abstract worlds and going on adventures in realms made of concepts and relations. Nowadays, I believe that the practice of mathematical, logical, and quantitative thinking is a fundamental pillar of democracy. If I had to name just one goal for my entire work, it would be to bring forward a radical joy in the practice of mathematics, pushing back against misconceptions, rewriting narratives, and putting into action \"maths positivity\". I am a freelance science communicator, working at the intersection of public engagement, education, and dissemination. Most of my daily work involves making complex topics more accessible through a tragic sense of humour, an unhealthy amount of stories, and a lot of sketching. My go-to topics are mathematics (in all of its forms), data, and the history and politics of science and research. I live on a merry go round and I am always somewhere else than where I should be (ask my plants, that routinely go without water for n+1 days). Mostly, I divide my time between Torino, Trieste, and Leipzig.
