ABOUT SIMONE IMMLER
Prof Simone Immler is a leading expert in genetics and reproduction, and the head of a research group at the University of East Anglia focusing on the use of multi-omics approaches (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) to study mechanisms and concepts in fertility and reproduction. Prof Immler has been awarded a series of prestigious awards and grants including a Wallenberg Academy Fellowship in 2015, grants from the European Research Council (Starting Grant in 2013 and a Consolidator Grant in 2022), the Human Frontier Science Program and UKRI (NERC, BBSRC and MRC). She has published over 70 peer reviewed articles and book chapters in internationally leading journals including Nature, Current Biology and PNAS (h-index of 35). She has been a member and chairing numerous local, national and international boards and committees and speaks at international meetings and events. Her pioneering research in male fertility led to the formation of a university spin-out company Virilitas Labs, focused on translating cutting-edge research into applications for clinical and at-home use. Virilitas Labs aims to bring to market easy to use at-home testing technologies to evaluate, within minutes, potential reproductive issues in men and couples trying to conceive. Virilitas is also developing cutting-edge methodologies for clinical applications. Integrating biochemistry, design, engineering, and state-of-the-art omics, Virilitas Labs is bridging the gaps in pre-clinical and clinical fertility diagnostics and interventions.
