WORK HISTORY
Engineering Compliance & Export Controls Lead Engineer @JLR
Edinburgh City, GB
During a companywide restructure, I was head hunted to the newly formed Compliance team within Electrical Engineering due to previously delivering multiple successful legislative based features. My responsibilities within this team are split into two categories of Legal Compliance and Export Controls.Compliance was historically managed at a “Whole Vehicle” level, but my new team focuses on the requirements effecting the electrical components specifically. I have developed processes for our new team to integrate with the existing QMS structure and am in the process of building a new database to store our certificates. All areas of legal compliance are to be included from EMC to Materials and Radio Type Approval to Safety. The Export Controls Senior Manager asked me to work under her to manage all aspects of Export Controls within the Engineering team. This role has a very wide range of tasks, initially focusing on American Export Controls (BIS) ensuring all suppliers report out their ECCN’s correctly. For all restricted ECCN’s reported I have put processes in place to control their movement and usage. I have also led screening of parties that are on the Entity List and am commencing work on regulations surrounding SOTA in restricted markets. With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine I was pivotal in JLRs quick response regarding our export duties and have helped managed the dynamic work this has created- Developing new processes to comply with QMS - Building compliance databases- Controlling movement of restricted parts
