WORK HISTORY
Optical Physicist @Vividq
Cambridge, GB
VividQ is a deep tech company specializing in computer-generated holography for 3D displays for applications in AR/VR, gaming, automotive head-up displays (HUD) and consumer electronics. Most recently I led a project to build an autostereoscopic holographic display that recreates the \"Star Wars\" effect of a full 3D image floating mid-air in the room.

ABOUT SIMON CHANDLER
I am an Optical and Engineering Physicist with 30 years experience of product development in both start-up and corporate environments. Most recently I led the development and transfer to manufacturing of the optics in Fluidic Analytic\'s benchtop analytical instruments for microfluidic sizing of proteins. I’ve worked in many other technology areas including: laser-scanning fluorescence cytometry; spectroscopy and imaging with terahertz optics; metrology instrumentation for semiconductor packaging; trace element analysis with ICP-OES; high-volume manufacturing of semiconductor components for fibre-optic communications; scanning probe microscopy; and information data storage.I am primarily a hands-on engineer, enjoying the design, building and evaluation of prototypes and early-stage products. In contrast to that practical work he uses computer programming (with Mathematica and Python) for detailed data analysis and the automation of measurement tasks. Numerical simulation of optics (using Zemax) is also very important for identifying and choosing between candidate optical designs and in the assessment of manufacturing tolerances.
