ABOUT SIMONA MIZARAITE
Throughout my time in university, I have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to my studies, which has been recognised through several awards. I have participated in various events, such as Model NATO 2023 and BISA Climate Change, which have allowed me to develop a diverse range of professional skills, including collaboration, public speaking, and negotiation. Alongside excelling academically, I have actively engaged with the Greenwich Employability Passport scheme, which has helped me develop a broad range of skills. During my studies, I have gained the ability to work independently and improved my capacity to express my ideas clearly in an argumentative essay. My interests lie mainly in international security, particularly in constructivism and the Copenhagen School\'s theory of securitisation. My dissertation centres on the case study of the Russo-Ukraine War, utilising securitisation and regional security complex theories. My research topic focuses on the macrosecuritisation of Ukraine, by Vladimir Putin, as the instrument of US imperialism, and how this interstate war, that is fought both at micro and macro levels, evolved into a power struggle between Slavic-Orthodox and Western civilisations. I have a deep interest in this topic and managed to gather a wide range of academic sources that examine the escalation of tensions between the two countries, starting from the Euromaidan Revolution to the current events.
