About Simon Thyssen

I recently graduated from the University of Virginia, majoring in Financial Econometrics and Data Analytics. Throughout my time at UVA, I have excelled in courses like Intermediate Microeconomics, Advanced Calculus and Statistics with Python, highlighting my analytical and problem-solving skills. Outside of the classroom I have taken full advantage of extra-curricular opportunities to expand my network, adopt leadership positions and find ways to give back to the community. Aside from University, I have also been able to test myself with internships Clarivate, Bank Gutman, TBG AG and Lazard. My diverse skillset, strong interpersonal and teamworking skills as well as and ability to implement computer science into financial analysis have allowed me to excel at all of these firms and receive return offers. I started the internships with limited background knowledge in both finance and computer science, but I believe this speaks towards my greatest strength; my consistent desire to learn, both through observing and communicating with more experienced employees as well as through independent research. I believe that this desire to learn and improve, in tandem with my analytical and out-of-the-box thinking will allow me to leave a positive impact wherever I decide to work in the future.
