WORK HISTORY
Senior Enterprise Architect @NatWest
Edinburgh, GB
Product Owner for 5STAR which is the banks 5 Years Strategic Target Architecture and Roadmap framework. As part of 5STAR I led the design, implementation and roll-out of the framework including the development of the meta model for 5STAR utilising industry standard inputs (Archimate Meta Model). I am building on the first iteration of 5STAR to support a diverse range of Architecture improvement initiatives and to also support Regulatory Reporting against our Cloud Migration Strategy. This includes scaling out the meta model to better enable data driven architecture and the implementation of Architecture as code. Other things I am driving are alignment of architecture, design and engineering to our strategy through clear outcome definition. We are making extensive use of AI in using the Architecture Data Product this is starting to create in particular to support Natwest Investment Planning decisions. Product Owner for the Natwest Technical Capability Model. I developed and implemented the NatWest technical capability model, including the associated operating model and responsibility model. I have used this to support associated business process improvement around contract goverance, architecture decision making and other processes related to driving improvements in how we realise our technical capabilities.A member of the Architecture Council which is headed up by the Director of Architecture & Engineering Diana Kennedy.Supported driving improvement in our Architecture Training and Development Programmes. In this role I have further built on my previous expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks, Cloud Architecture, platform architecture, AI, DevOps, agile methodologies and composable architecture principles and developed a strong understanding of iterative and incremental delivery models.

I have over 10 years experience in Enterprise Architecture but a working lifetime of experience of driving Business and Technology change across the Enterprise in different roles. I am currently the EA Product Owner for 5STAR, the framework I developed to define and manage the bank’s 5-Year Strategic Target Architecture and Roadmap, ensuring alignment between architecture, design, engineering and operational processes. I specialise in developing, implementing and advancing the use of enterprise-wide architecture frameworks to support current state problem analysis, defining Architecture visions and outcomes and the roadmaps to deliver these. I consider myself to be an expert in Architecture Modelling, using Archimate and other Architecture notation, Data Driven Architecture and Architecture as Code practices. At NatWest, I also focus on using Enterprise Data to drive insights to support decision-making, scenario planning and Executive and Regulatory Reporting.I am also a TOGAF practitioner with deep knowledge of SaFe and other Enterprise Scale agile methods which I use as a Leader to deliver impactful Architecture solutions.Having started as a software engineer and over my career worked in all aspects of solution delivery I can quickly understand the goals and drivers for change and rapidly define Architectures which can deliver this turning ideas quickly into value.I hope you get a sense of my passion of delivering value through Enterprise Architecture.
