I specialise in getting test automation up and running quickly, whether that\'s building frameworks from scratch or fixing what\'s already there. Over 20 years I\'ve worked across fintech, medtech, pharmaceutical trials and embedded systems, tackling everything from hospital IT emulation on AWS to NFC security for bank cards.I\'m drawn to technically rigorous work where the testing matters - medical devices under ISO 13485, clinical trial systems under GCP, financial products with complex regulatory requirements. The kind of projects where you need to understand the domain not just tick boxes.I use Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, C#, Python and TypeScript, but the tool matters less than knowing when to use what and how to structure tests so they\'re maintainable rather than a burden. I\'ve built test systems for oil well analytics, point-of-sale systems running on Dockerised mobile emulators and AWS environments emulating entire hospital networks.What I enjoy most is the variety - learning new codebases quickly, adapting to different tech stacks and sorting out difficult problems. I\'m the person teams bring in when they need someone who can hit the ground running and deliver without hand-holding.I\'ve got a background in security-conscious testing (OWASP, penetration test validation) and I\'m comfortable working across the full testing spectrum - API, UI, mobile, performance and manual testing depending on the specific requirements of the project.Currently based in Edinburgh and open to contracts or permanent positions (on-site, hybrid or remote) where there\'s interesting technical work to be done.
