ABOUT SIMON POLLARD

As Area Manager of the Middle North for Higgins, I lead a team of over 400+ staff and manage more than $100m in revenue. I believe in inspiring and empowering my staff to deliver quality project outcomes, increasing their expertise and capability, and sharing organisational knowledge to constantly deliver innovative solutions based on best-practice within the construction industry.With over 20 years in the industry, I have overseen all functions of a project from tender management, financial controls, risk management and quality, through to health and safety and people leadership. I have a wealth of experience in road maintenance, pavement construction and resealing methodologies, achieving sustainable results, and have additional expertise across work programming, costing and reporting.I bring an open-minded, high-energy approach to leadership to get results from my team, encouraging them to think outside the square and deliver innovation to our clients. Working with a high level of integrity, I provide both staff and clients with honest and direct feedback, to establish long-term relationships that deliver mutually beneficial results.In addition to holding professional membership with Engineering New Zealand, I am a Committee Member for the BOP NZ Civil Contractors, providing support for the members through networking and training opportunities. Higgins is a dynamic New Zealand civil construction business with a ‘customer number one’ focus and a team of over 1600 staff. Our breadth of capabilities and resources means we can deliver a fully integrated complement of civil construction services and infrastructure products.
