ABOUT SIMON PEDRO OTERO
I am a recent graduate of Northeastern University, specializing in Political Science with a focus on terrorism ideologies, tactics, and counterterrorism strategies in Latin America. My thesis delved into the historical tactics employed by key figures in the Colombian drug trade, examining the challenges posed by the fractionalization of power and violence post-2017 Peace Treaty with FARC. Furthermore, I proposed policy recommendations to modernize a promising plan overshadowed during the Santos regime. Currently, I contribute to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Rackets Bureau in the newly established Worker Protection Unit. My aspiration is to rekindle the American Dream for all New Yorkers by fostering equitable and legal opportunities. I firmly believe that eradicating illicit pathways necessitates the creation of compelling alternatives.
