I am the inventor of the punk coupling and founder of Punk Couplings Limited. The Punk coupling is a totally new and novel torque coupling that has a similar performance and characteristics to the classic universal joint. It differs significantly in that it is between 10-20% of the length of the equivalent universal joint, it can be easily concentrically mounted and has only 1 moving part. We believe it also to be the first true \'waiting fail-safe\' geometric torque coupling and possibly the first new universal joint type coupling in 500 years. It has been independently described as \'having the torque density of a gear coupling with the angular misalignment capability of a universal joint\'.
