Hitachi-owned Horizon Nuclear Power was the developer of two new nuclear power stations in a £40bn programme to supply electricity to 11 million homes. Following a strategic review development plans were shelved, and in 2024 Horizon sold its development sites to Great British Nuclear, an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. I am retained to advise and manage the transition to new ownership and future development of the sites. During Horizon\'s active development phase I was responsible for the strategic direction, implementation and control of all development land, corporate real estate and workplace requirements including- acquisition of all land and property rights required for two new power stations with associated developments - proactive asset management of a large and diverse mixed tenure / use estate including disposal of surplus assets- acquisition, disposal and workplace management of a diverse corporate real estate portfolio- following suspension of development activities - closure of business operations and asset disposal including sale of development sitesMy achievements include- £420m site assembly of 1,500 acres for new nuclear power stations- grew from scratch and led 20 strong Real Estate Team- £15m annual operating budget responsibility- developed and implemented sophisticated asset management strategies resulting in 50% income growth
