About Simon Jones

Currently, US Thoracic (NSCLC and SCLC) Medical Lead at AMGEN, helping develop new treatment options, including for patients with KRAS G12C mutated NSCLC, as well as tarlatamab (SCLC). Previously, I was the Global Medical Lead for TAGRISSO, which was the new 1L standard of care for patients with EGFRm NSCLC, and one of AZ\'s biggest selling medicines. Approaching 20 years of BioPharma experience. Breadth of Medical leadership and knowledge gained from country (UK, USA), regional (Asia-Pac, Emerging Markets), and global medical affairs headquarters roles for both BMS and AZ. I have also gained invaluable clinical development and regulatory experience from my 6-month tour of duty on a FDA immuno-oncology submission using Japanese trial data, and from my life-cycle management experiences with TAGRISSO at AZ.What am I most proud of: Developing people and an established track record for leading industry leading launches and life cycle management of medicines in oncology (osimertinib, sotorasib), immuno-oncology (nivolumab+ipilimumab, tarlatamab), virology (atazanavir, sustiva), and infectious diseases (daclatasavir).How I work: Partners with cross-functional leaders to deliver on aligned objectives, shape and direct culture, and enhance employee engagement and accountability.     Accountable for the development and implementation of the medical affairs strategy for Thoracic (NSCLC and SCLC), including AMGEN\'s Sotorasib (LUMAKRAS) for KRAS G12C mutant NSCLC. Provides leadership to the cross-functional matrix team, and helps provide the strategic direction in the development of the US and more recently the Global medical team. This includes oversight of all of our external engagement, medical communications, medical publications and evidence generation strategies. Develops the Global and US Medical plans, and lifecycle management, in close collaboration with the AMGEN Product Team, and the Early Development team. Line Manager of the Thoracic Medical Advisors. Developed the Launch plan for sotorasib in partnership with US commercial and access lead. Designed and led the implementation of the Expanded Access Program, which provided compassionate use access to KRAS G12C NSCLC pts prior to the 2021 FDA approval of sotorasib. More recently, I led the pre-launch planning for tarlatamab, a novel first in class DLL3 inhibitor, which has just completed phase II investigation. New deliverables included unit account profiling for US, and planning out a robust day 0 safety plan to support safe use of this new class of medicines.
