Completed 100+ hours of OR shadowing at Hackensack University Medical Center. Observed complex procedures including deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantation, ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt placement, total hysterectomy, total knee replacement, robot-assisted laparoscopic cholecystectomy, deceased donor kidney transplantation as well as many others. Witnessed spinal taps, epidurals, nerve blocks, and participated in pre- & post-operative patient interactions. Gained exposure to surgical specialties such as Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, and Bariatric Surgery. Developed a deeper understanding of anesthesiology, intraoperative decision-making, robotic-assisted surgery, and the collaborative dynamics of the surgical team.
