I have a corporate commercial practice with a focus on the energy and mining industries. I have extensive experience with all aspects of occupational health and safety law. I spent three years as senior in-house counsel for a publically listed corporation and this experience provided me with a practical and result orientated approach to practicing law.I provide advice on all aspects of a mining business including the negotiation and preparation of international and domestic supply agreements; the loading, storage, railing and shipping of commodities; the day to day operations of a working mine; and the negotiation and preparation of equipment supply and purchase agreements. I routinely provide advice on all aspects of the loading, storage, transportation and shipping of commodities including coal and oil. I regularly acts for clients in relation to the leasing of rail cars and I have been extensively involved in the legal and regulatory issues arising from the railing of crude oil.I have provided advice with respect to a large number of construction projects including commercial real estate build to suit projects; the construction of an activated carbon plant in Saskatchewan; and the reopening of a shuttered mine including the full refurbishment of a drag-line shovel.I have provided advice with respect to occupational health and safety related matters throughout Western Canada. In particular, I am involved in the auditing, review and drafting of construction and project contracts to ensure conformity with both provincial and federal health and safety obligations. I act for both owners and contractors.Finally, I act as general corporate and commercial counsel for a number of companies spanning a wide variety of industries.
