Immunologist, cancer biologist and innovative translational scientist with deep expertise in drug discovery and both basic/translational immunology. Established leader with experience delivering strategic leadership to portfolio, project and capability development.Responsible for defining and executing the discovery strategy for redirected (Immune Engagers) and conventional immunotherapy, bioscience for clinical stage INDs. Responsible for operational leadership of the UK teams and departmental site head. Member of the global oncology leadership team contributing to broad pipeline strategy and governance. Experienced in all aspects of IO drug discovery. Expertise in platform technology development, drug project leadership through to regulatory approvals. Also experienced in the development of (immunological) biomarker strategies to support early phase trials. Experienced people leader committed to the personal/professional development of individuals and teams to align to strategic goals. Previously was member of the target selection committee for the Cancer Research UK AstraZeneca Alliance laboratory.Lead for several academic collaborations and am an active co-supervisor for a number of Ph.D students and post-doctoral projects.Additional roles:Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at University of Cambridge (Dept. of Oncology) and previously held an Honorary Lecturer position at the University of Manchester. Co-supervisor of graduate students, Delivery of lectures (and seminars) on immunology, tumour biology and cancer immunology at the University of Manchester (and also at University College London) on post-graduate degree courses and specialist training courses. Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.Member of the Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research (CTRad) scientific working group; part of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) with a focus on clinical and translational issues relating to radiotherapy and radiobiology, as well as the development of a portfolio of practice-changing trials.I am a member of a number of professional bodies including the British Association for Cancer Research, British Society of Immunology, American Association for Cancer Research, Society for the Immunotherapy of Cancer and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
