ABOUT SIMON BEVIS
With 20+ years’ experience in the UK energy retail sector I have had the opportunity to develop core skills in operational delivery, process improvement, solution design, project management, strategy design, and budgetary management.I was drawn to operational roles because of the fast-paced environment, the regular challenges presented and the opportunity to design and implement solutions which benefit our customers and our business.Throughout my career I have worked for smaller retailers within the market. This has given me the opportunity to develop a breadth of both technical knowledge and personal skills which serve me well in my current role. Whilst my role is now strategic, as the leader of the department, I am able to combine strategic thinking with detailed process understanding in order to support the delivery of robust solutions. My career path to date has enabled me to develop a number of skills that I am able to bring to a role;Project ManagementProcess DesignOracle Reporting skillsStrategic thinkingPerformance ManagementBudget Management Reflecting upon my career to date, among a number of positive experiences, there are two achievements which stand out. Firstly, turning around Utilita’s energy reconciliation performance within 18 months of joining the organisation. Faced with sub-optimal processes I set about re-designing processes, developing and empowering staff to deliver high quality exception management processes, and working with the regulatory to manage our improvement plan. 18 months later we achieved industry leading performance. I felt a huge sense of personal pride when this was achieved. Most recently I have taken particular satisfaction from the achievements of colleagues within my department. I have been able to support and develop their skills, using the experience I have gained over 20 years, to enable them to flourish and deliver strong solutions and performance. Being able to pass on my experiences along with the learnings I have taken from colleagues throughout my career to date is incredibly rewarding. As a keen cricketer there is nothing better than being able to share that winning feeling with teammates after a game with the knowledge that everyone has worked together in order to achieve that goal. This translates directly into the workplace as well – collaboration is the key to success and at the core of the approach I take to facilitating delivery across my department.
