ABOUT SILVIO MANDELLI

When I describe myself I always come up with the adjective “curious”. A never satisfied thirst for knowledge and interests has been living with me since I started reading and writing. During my life I have discovered the power that science gave to humanity to let them govern the world and its processes. Mechanics, electrotechnics, biology, informatics are different sides of the continuous knowledge expansion brought by men and women with their work every day. Joining this army is the mission of a young research engineer and this is what I do every day. My tools are mathematics, statistics and machine learning. My fields are telecommunications and social interactions. My allies are my colleagues, universities and students. I like designing new algorithms, but if I want to describe myself correctly I must use just some other few words. I like a lot playing the piano, the organ and singing. I am the director of a 40 people choir \"Corsacra\" since 2007 and we started to do charity concerts in the 2011. Moreover, I like teaching in the university and mentoring youth boys and girls of 18/19 years old in my church and I have founded a basketball team where I was the captain before moving to Germany in 2016. Last but not the least, I am enrolled in politics: in 2013 I was elected in the town council of my city, Cinisello Balsamo, as one of the majority leader. In the end, an engineer should be as technical as he is relational. A scientist without soft skills is like a car engine without wheels. That’s why during my work, I always try to focus on the complete environment and not only on my tasks in a proactive, flexible and open minded approach.
