WORK HISTORY
Postdoctoral Researcher @Uc San Diego School Of Medicine
San Diego, CA, US
Independently conducting research in a translational lab, I have begun participating in the analysis of clinical trial samples while also helping develop pre-clinical models and identifying therapeutic targets for hematological cancers like Multiple Myeloma. I have the opportunity to expand my expertise in the field of immuno-oncology while contributing to unraveling the molecular mechanisms underlying the onset of multiple myeloma from a unique neuroscience perspective.
EDUCATION
Uppsala University
Master Degree, Molecular Medicine
UniTrento CIBIO
Bachelor Degree in Biomolecular Sciences and Technology, Biotechnology

ABOUT SILVIA VICENZI
I\'m a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, San Diego, specializing in neuroscience and immuno-oncology. With a global academic background spanning Italy, the UK, Sweden, and Australia, my journey has led to expertise in developmental neurobiology, molecular biology, optogenetics, and advanced microscopy techniques. My groundbreaking Ph.D. work uncovered serotonin\'s role as a guidance cue molecule during brain circuit formation. After a stint as a postdoc at UCSD, where I first applied my long-standing knowledge in axon guidance to drive axon regeneration after spinal cord injuries, I now explore the convergence of neuroscience and cancer immunology in aging research. I\'m also an ardent advocate for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia, and I\'m the Chair of the Postdoctoral Association at UCSD, championing an inclusive and safe academic environment. In my \"free\" time, I enjoy engaging in outreach to enthuse and inform young people about science. Connect with me on LinkedIn or Twitter @VicenziSilvia to embark on a journey of scientific discovery.
