ABOUT BEN FORREST

With a unique combination of skills in technology, leadership, communication and creativity, I lead committed teams to produce quality software products. I have been a hands-on software engineer and technology manager for nearly 20 years in a range of industries from large corporate to early-stage startups.As an engineer I have designed, built and managed numerous desktop and web applications in Ruby, JavaScript.Net and Java. I code daily in Ruby and JavaScript, and have exceptional software design and architecture skills.As a technology leader, I have many years experience mentoring and leading development teams in both traditional and Agile environments and have founded a SaaS startup. I have also closely coached over two hundred beginner programmers at an industry-leading bootcamp. I am passionate about learning, quality, and craftsmanship, and I love to mentor and support others in these pursuits using best practices found in Agile, Scrum, XP, Lean and Kanban.When I’m not coding, or reading about programming technology, I direct, produce and perform amateur theatre, read literary fiction, write for my kids and practice Aikido.
