ABOUT JACOB SILKNITTER
Jacob Silknitter is a 3rd year undergraduate SMART Scholar, studying mechanical engineering. He started his work with EPIC his freshman year, and has been working with Dr. Saffeer Khan on a variety of energy projects. Most recently developing an underwater drone to perform structural health monitoring of marine energy systems. In the Spring of 2023, Jacob founded UNC Charlotte\'s Marine Energy Collegiate Competition team, and in 2024 he led the team to the competition where they were recognized as \"Rising Stars.\" and now he is co-leading to compete in May of 2025. During the summers Jacob works for NAVAIR FRC East as a SMART engineering intern.
