ABOUT SILKE NEBEL
My life-long passion for nature conservation was sparked during a field trip early in life to a nature reserve on a remote island in the German North Sea. Meeting people who travelled the world, lived in remote natural places and dedicated their lives to the study and conservation of nature seemed a dream that I wanted to make my own. And I have. And after over two decades working in nature conservation around the globe, I now have a leadership position at a Canadian environmental non-for-profit organization. My main focus in my current role are market-driven solutions to the climate and biodiversity crises. Working landscapes - grasslands, farm land, managed forests, etc - offer some of our biggest opportunities to sequester carbon and protect biodiversity.
