I am responsible for promoting the department\'s image and visibility by raising the level of public awareness of parks and recreation operations, services and accomplishments. I coordinate the development of comprehensive strategies and approaches for marketing services and facilities, write and distribute press releases, facilitate public/private partnerships, sponsorships, and other revenue enhancing programs such as grant writing when appropriate. I also manage the departments social media accounts which include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Flicker. Responds to customer questions and feedback around the clock on social media accounts. Typical response is withing a few hours, no longer than 1 day. Job responsibilities:• Coordinate the department’s Strategic Communications Plan • Draft, develop and implement programs to include media relations, press releases, publications, printed materials, internet communications, social networking, video and general marketing products and strategies.• Create and distribute marketing and communications materials by researching, writing and designing materials, working with vendors, customers, coordinating the distribution of materials, monitoring budgets, preparing correspondence and buying advertising. • Lead department in the coordination and submission of National Recreation and Park Association Accreditation standards• Reach out to outside organizations for sponsorship and other funding opportunities including grants • Serve as the point person to facilitate donations to the Tucson Parks Foundation whose funds directly benefit the Tucson Parks and Recreation.
