Books N Bros is a youth-led book club that I founded in 2016 with the help of my mother when I was just ten years old. The organization aims to empower boys, particularly those aged 7 to 17, by promoting literacy through African American literature and stories that reflect their identities and experiences. The club\'s motto,\"Cool Bros Read,\" encapsulates our mission to make reading an engaging and relatable activity for young boys.The inspiration for Books N Bros came when I visited EyeSeeMe, a Black-owned bookstore in St. Louis, Missouri. There, I discovered books featuring characters who looked like myself. Motivated by this, I decided to create a space where my friends and I could come together to read and discuss books that resonate with their lives.Books N Bros offers a subscription-based model that provides members with monthly boxes containing curated books, reading guides, and other educational materials. The club has expanded beyond St. Louis, with a growing presence in Atlanta, Georgia, and virtual meetups that allow for broader participation. The organization also emphasizes entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and character development, aiming to combat the statistic that boys, especially African American boys aged 7 to 13, are at a lower literacy level than others.Sidney Keys has received national recognition for his work, including features on \"Good Morning America,\" CNN, and Disney+\'s \"Marvel\'s Hero Project.\" In 2023, he authored a book titled \"Books N Bros: 44 Inspiring Books for Black Boys,\" which serves as a literary resource highlighting books that reflect the experiences and aspirations of young Black boys.For more information or to get involved, you can visit the official website at booksnbros.com.
