For over 25 years, my involvement in the non-profit and K-12 education sectors as a teacher, administrator, researcher, lecturer, and fundraiser has allowed me to grasp how funding in myriad ways dictates the type of education provided to children nationwide. Throughout my career, I have consistently witnessed fiscal constraints lead to the closing of exceptional schools and programs, the laying-off of talented, committed teachers, and scarce educational opportunities available to scores of youth. What I observed has inspired my shift from a teacher and school administrator, to a fundraiser committed to ensuring that fiscal strength, not weakness, is the foundation from which educational institutions dedicated to improving student learning are built from.
