About Shyam Chaudhry

I have spent the last 3+ years as a Hardware Design Engineer within the R&D team at LifeLens. I am working on non-invasive wireless wearable physiological monitoring devices meant for proactive health management for patients. Previously, I spent 3 years as an RF Design Engineer within the New Product Introduction team at GE Healthcare. I was involved with development and release of AIR surface coils for MRI machines.I excited about the medical device, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries. I seek to leverage my knowledge acquired throughout industry and academia to be able to positively impact lives through device development. My technical skill set is diverse, featuring instrumentation, integrated mixed signal and analog circuit design, computational neuroscience, RF, signal processing, and embedded systems. I hope to be able to combine these detail-oriented technical skills with my broad perspective in commercialization, intellectual property, biodesign, economics, and project management to bring tomorrow’s products to fruition.I bring a “can do” attitude to my obligations, and I relish undertaking challenges and learning more about myself along the journey. I lead by example and try to be the change I want to see in the world. I try to inspire my teammates through a blend of determination and humor, and I am willing to put the team’s objectives ahead of my own personal goals.     Oversee hardware in wireless wearable physiological monitoring Class II medical devices aimed at proactive health management within commercial and military environments; activities include hardware testing, board bring-up, debug, rework, and verification- Responsible for schematic capture and layout of several 8-layer, highly dense, small size, low power, mixed-signal, rigid-flex printed circuit boards (PCBs) with surface mount components ranging down to 01005 using Altium Designer- Incorporate HF, UHF, and SHF radio technologies (e.g. cellular/LTE, WiFi, BLE, GNSS, LoRa, NFC, Ultra-wideband)- Spearhead RF design and testing efforts in terms of automated/in-line RF test creation for in-house manufacturing, antenna selection and interaction, RF pathway optimization on PCBs and cabling, and RF simulations using CST Studio Suite- Ensure design EMC compliance per IEC 60601-1, FCC Part 15, CISPR 11, and MIL-SPEC standards- Program and troubleshoot in-house SMT equipment: reflow oven, solder paste printer, pick and place machine, laser cutter, automated inspection machines (SPI, AOI, flying probe, X-ray)- Interface with mechanical and automation engineers to incorporate rigid & rigid-flex PCB designs within the device assembly- Work closely with firmware and software engineers to provide electrical support with troubleshooting, implement feedback into future board designs, and brainstorm system architecture- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure smooth production board SMT and assembly process- Survey the marketplace for the latest memory, power management, RF, sensors, and related ICs; experiments with evaluation kits- Refined hands-on/bench skills: soldering, DMMs, function generators, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, EMI test receivers, oscilloscopes- Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers with projects and technical career development
