   I am a basketball official! One of a dwindling breed, it seems. Starting as a way of offsetting college tuition, I have maintained this avocation throughout my career. My resume\'s pretty robust with a few years in NBA system, decades with Special Olympics, time in the NCAA arenas, starting with men, moving over to the women\'s game and climbing up that ladder. My love, however, has always been at the High School level, where I feel I have a real opportunity to give back.For the 90-minutes of a game (32 actual clock), I can be part of helping players learn how to work as a team within a set of guidelines, seeing what happens when they step outside of them, and my applause when they excel. For that 90-minutes I can help them forget the homework due the next day, the test they just took, or maybe Mom and Dad aren\'t seeing eye to eye.they can just be having fun. A pretty powerful thing to be part of, actually.and know that the Officials don\'t care who wins a contest!
