ABOUT SHUBHANKAR DUTTA
A synthetic organic chemist by training, over a decade, is in the field of Medicinal Chemistry and drug discovery, where Biology and Organic Chemistry complement each other. I am synthesizing small molecules, developing structure-activity relationships, and analyzing them to find the answer for some of our disease-related models to advance the program. In this process, we use biophysical tools, AI, computational modeling, organic chemistry, and medicinal chemistry (Hit to lead). Before Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Research Institute, I worked as a postdoc at SMDC (UCSF), interned in GSK in the Herat Failure DPU in Pennsylvania, where I was involved in the candidate selection and API synthesis — got familiar with how a hit in the screening evolve to a new entity before it goes to the clinic. Before coming to the US, I worked as a process chemist at BASF India.
