About Shuaib Bhalloo
My exposure to the field of accounting began when I took an accounting class in high school. In this class, I learned the importance and role of accountants in turning raw data into useful information to facilitate decision-making to multiple users. As I began to develop an interest in the subject, I joined the accounting club at the high school to gain more information about the field. I’m currently studying at Rutgers University. I’ve decided to pair my accounting degree with a degree in business analytics. This will further develop my decision-making and problem-solving skills in a society where technology is becoming more connected with other majors and fields. In the fall of 2020, I was 1 of 6 students chosen by Rutgers to participate in the Deloitte Audit Innovation Campus Challenge. Our team was given a challenge statement and tasked to develop a solution that applied innovative thinking. We had 4 weeks to do this. Reaching a consensus and communicating with other team members effectively was paramount in the challenge. Not only did this experience give me insight into the future of the auditing profession, but it also enhanced my teamwork and communication skills. I am also fortunate to begin an internship with a major accounting firm this summer. I’m looking forward to getting acclimated to the world of public accounting and continuing my journey of learning and gaining new, real-world experience. Some of my passions include working to help and inspire others as well as giving back to the community. I am continuously working to achieve this by volunteering as a food preparation worker at a local center, mentoring incoming Rutgers freshmen, and working as a camp counselor in the summer.
