ABOUT SHRUTHI BELLE SOUTHEKAL

I am a Director on the Business Credit Team at ATB Financial, where I bring a diverse background in risk analysis, portfolio management, and strategic restructuring. My journey at ATB has spanned several key sectors including Exploration & Production (E&P), Oil Field Services, Project Finance and other diversified industries, giving me a broad perspective on the industrial landscape of Western Canada.Before joining Credit, I served as an Associate Director in the Corporate Risk Advisory & Management (RAM) team, providing critical turnaround and restructuring support to businesses facing complex challenges. Prior to that I was a Portfolio Manager within the ATB Capital Markets Energy Team. In that role, I managed a $1.4 billion portfolio comprising over 25 senior and intermediate E&P companies. My specialization was in assessing overall creditworthiness, where I was responsible for risk analysis, account maintenance, and nurturing long-term client relationships.My professional path began in Bangalore, India, where I worked for Connexios, a biotechnology start-up. My academic background is equally diverse: I hold a Master’s Degree in Microbiology from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, where I was honored to be placed on the Dean’s List for academic excellence.Outside the office, I am a firm believer in the power of movement and community. I am an avid Hula Hoop dancer and have had the pleasure of performing at the Calgary Stampede and GlobalFest. As an AFLCA-certified group fitness instructor, I also share my culture and energy by leading regular Bollyfitness classes.I moved from India to Canada in 2009 and have proudly called Calgary home ever since. Today, I live here with my husband and our two children, balancing a fast-paced career with a vibrant life in the community.
