About Shreya Shakya

I recently graduated in May with a Master’s in Environmental Science and Policy from Clark University, and since then I’ve been diving into work that blends GIS, sustainability, and people. My journey started in Nepal, where I saw firsthand how environmental challenges and community resilience are closely linked. That’s what drives me today: using maps, data, and stories to help shape more equitable, green futures.In the last three years I have worked with nonprofits, research teams, and universities writing grant proposals, leading community events, creating GIS dashboards for climate vulnerability, and helping coalitions reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I enjoy translating complex data into visuals and narratives that people can understand and act on, whether it is making an appeal to supporters or showing local decision makers where change is needed.What motivates me is the balance between technical problem-solving and making a tangible impact. From creating GIS maps and analyzing data to working with communities and partners, I enjoy turning complex information into tools that drive smarter, more sustainable decisions. Beyond work, I find inspiration in urban green spaces, stay curious through sustainability research, and explore new places that broaden my perspective.
