ABOUT SHOANA HUMPHRIES
I am passionate about community-based resource management, and thrive on working directly with families and community enterprises striving to improve their economic opportunities while responsibly managing forests and other natural resources. I have a PhD in Forest Resources and Conservation with a minor in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida, and have worked in small-scale forestry and forest certification for the last 20 years mostly in Latin America, the US, and Europe. I specialize in capacity-building and applied research with family and community forest enterprises in Latin America and US. Since 2011, I have been developing and training people in the Green Value Tool for Simplified Financial Analysis to help farmers, partner NGOs, and government agencies improve the financial viability and sustainability of resource management activities. Areas of expertise: community forestry, financial analysis, forest certification, forest policy, small and medium forest enterprises, enterprise development and strengthening, risk management, restoration, timber production, non-timber forest products, environmental services.
