As President of Florida MedConnect (FMC), I lead a Florida-based nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to research and clinical mentorship for high school and undergraduate students. I oversee program development, organizational strategy, and statewide volunteer coordination, collaborating with healthcare professionals, faculty, and student leaders to create impactful experiences in medicine and science.Key responsibilities and accomplishments include- Research Pipeline Leadership: Designed and implemented a structured mentorship program guiding students through literature reviews, poster presentations, and research publications- Conference Oversight: Founded and led the Florida Youth Research & Innovation Symposium (FLYRIS), a platform for young researchers to showcase their work and connect with experts- Program Infrastructure: Built and manage the organization’s Slack-based infrastructure to streamline internal communication, research coordination, and publication workflows- Mentorship Oversight and Growth: Supervise a team of mentors supporting nearly 40 research groups and over 200 students annually, ensuring quality, consistency, and growth in FMC’s programs.Through this work, I aim to make medical research more accessible and equitable, while developing future leaders in healthcare and science.
