ABOUT SHIVANI SACHDEV

I\'m Shivani Sachdev, a postdoc at the National Institutes of Health studying GPCRs relevant for the treatment of osteoporosis, diabetes, and inflammation through the design of new tools. I am passionate about science communication and love sharing scientific research through social media on LinkedIn and Twitter.Over the last five years, I have gained undergraduate and graduate research experience in the three main areas of biomedical science – immunology, pharmacology, and molecular biology. Originally from India, I received the International Research Training Program Scholarship to pursue a Master of Research in the lab of Professor Mark Connor in the Macquarie University (MQ, Australia), investigating the molecular pharmacology of cannabinoid receptors (CB1/2) – the most abundant GPCR in the brain. One publication resulted from this work (152 citations since 2016), and I subsequently pursued PhD in the same lab supported by the MQ Research Excellence Scholarship (20••••20).Strategic leader with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills as evidenced by 7 peer-reviewed articles (4 as the first author), and 5 highly competitive grants to present my work at international and national conferences.I\'m fueled by pumpkin spice lattes and a passion for open and collaborative science. I also served as a science communication associate at Dr. GPCR where I managed, analyzed, and crafted content on 8 social media campaigns to bring together all key players who contribute to advancing the understanding of GPCR biology.My superpower is my tenacity and my personal mantra is \'never leave anything to chance\'.
