About Shivakumar Padmanabhan

I’m a Chartered Engineer from Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK (Registration No. 679766) and have a master’s degree, Master of Science from Manipal University in Mechanical System Design. I developed a strong working experience (circa 9+ years) in the domain of Computer Aided Mechanical Simulations during my tenure in ANSYS Software Private Limited as an Application Engineer. In this role, I had a hands-on experience in performing a broad range of Finite Element Analysis ranging from Linear and Nonlinear analysis techniques including the simulation of material, contact and geometric nonlinearities. Experience in defining composites materials, fabrics and stack-ups in a way that maximizes ultimate product integrity. Modeling of 2D –Shells, 3D – Solids & Failure predictions viz, First ply-failure, Debonding - via cohesive zone models, De-lamination induced by transverse shears and Crack characterization of composite structures using the virtual crack closure technique (VCCT). This experience is well complemented by product design of Hot End Components (circa 5+ years) within the Turbines module for Rolls-Royce Civil Large Engines.
