ABOUT SHITAL GAITONDE
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Roswell, Georgia with extensive training and experience in working with infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents. I received Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Oklahoma State University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at UCLA Semel Institute of Neuroscience, Los Angeles, where I worked in a variety of settings including an outpatient clinic, a day treatment program, and a developmental center, providing diagnostic assessment and treatment to children with severe behavior and developmental problems. During my post-doctoral fellowship at Emory School of Medicine, I received specialized training in working with children with Prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol. My primary area of interest is assessment and therapy for children with developmental disabilities including Autism spectrum disorders, Neurodevelopmental disorders associated with prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol, and Intellectual disabilities. I am trained to use the autism diagnostic measures (e.g. ADOS-2) and have extensive experience administering all the ADOS-2 modules including the Toddler module. Furthermore, I am trained to provide psycho-educational and neuropsychological testing for attention, academic, and executive functioning deficits. Additionally, I work with children with a variety of social-emotional problems related to anxiety, depression, social skills deficits, OCD, Tics, and emotional regulation issues. In addition to my private practice, I have a strong interest in training students and hence, I work as a clinical supervising faculty at Georgia State University Psychology clinic. Also, I am a clinical consultant to NIH funded study (P.I: Diana Robins, PhD) for early diagnosis of ASD at Georgia State University.
