ABOUT SHIRLEY GIRLING

Shirley Girling is the General Counsel for Risk & Broking which includes the Willis businesses. She is a risk and broking specialist and strategic advisor to WTW who delivers solutions to complex regulatory and commercial problems. As the Global Head of WTW\'s Business Legal Teams Shirley also leads an international team of over 100 lawyers. She has held a number of corporate directorships and is a member of key WTW corporate governance and executive committees and forums focused on risk, controls and strategic decision-making. Shirley has expertise across a broad range of legal services such as business and functional transformation, M&A, regulatory compliance, investigations, disputes and legal operations. She has over 25 years of in-house financial services experience covering risk management,(re)insurance, employee benefits and consulting in addition to her private practise background in litigation, dispute resolution and white collar crime. Shirley is an engaging, diplomatic and strategic thinker with deep technical and leadership skills who drives effective collaboration across a broad range of geographies and stakeholders. She is known for her ability to resolve complex and unpredictable challenges in pragmatic ways that maintain relationships, diffuse tension and restore calm.
