ABOUT SHIRLEY B.
My passion is to make a positive impact on others through the work I do. I am always looking for a challenge as it allows me to learn and grow my skills, and find tremendous meaning and fulfilment through it. Over the last 3 years, I’ve worked at L3Harris WESCAM as a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, where I predominantly contributed to NPI (New Product Introduction) projects and led sustaining projects, resulting in over $340K in savings, annually, and increased employee engagement by leading multi-disciplinary pFMEAs (Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis). During my time here, I’ve been involved in various Employee groups, such as co-founding WESCAMToastmasters, co-leading the Women In Engineering (WIE) group, becoming ECP (Early Career Professionals) member, and helping with community fundraisers for the United Way Halton & Hamilton. Prior to my full-time role, I did a 15-month internship in the same department, leading a continuous improvement project with combined savings of approx.$957K. Throughout my career and educational journeys, I’ve had the opportunity to learn various skills such as soldering/ cabling, CADing (including FEA), machining, coding, academic research, financial accounting, as well as, First Aid and MFR (Medical First Response). Having a diverse set of skills has been extremely beneficial in my career, allowing me a unique perspective on issues and ways to tackle them.
